Home Remedy's for plaque removal or products?

I am 28 and have a broken tooth which I am in the process of getting extracted as it's also rotted, My other teeth are in pretty good shape but I have noticed some tarter build up @ the back of mouth on the bottom teeth which I can't get ride of, I just read that Plax loosens plaque and should pick some up, Can anyone recommend a solution that will get this grossness of my teeth. Thank you :)
