Malwarebytes malware remover?

before i download this very highly rated remover I need to know if i should disable my mcafee virus scan to download and run this or can they run at the same time?I'm talking about the freeware version and keeping an active scan for this.I just want to clean up my laptop.I have three things being held in quarantine now that mcafee caught and placed there.They are safe in there as they have been encrypted,right?
