1995 plymouth neon will not start?

have a 1995 plymouth neon 5 speed. the blinker did not shut off automatically so we replaced the blinker embly. now the car will not start, will not even turn over, no click, nothing. all instrument lights work. took the blinker out, nothing. took the battery cable off for 10 minutes to reset any computer modules, nothing. key will not engage the solenoid. shorted the starter, solenoid spun but the starter did not engage. battery is good.
