What's is this disorder or disease?

My sister has had her period for the longest time and she went to the doctor and they said she had something called POS. They told her a bit about it but they dint give her full details. She said it something about her uterus being too thick or something along the lines of that...i need a good answer please cause it may be hereditary. Thank You
