Quick Quesition on Free Masons?

please dont give me your "masons are satan worshipers bullshit" i dont belive it but nor do i ignore it i am just trying to understand more about it but my question is if one is part a fraternity for example i am 18 in college and i am in national fraternity phi alpha delta pre law fraternity(its an academic frat not social) could i still be able to join a free mason group because i have heard they are also a fraternity? and ive read in the past they had issues with the catholic church but if i am an average catholic not a hard core believer could i still be allowed to join? please try to answer both
