I think you mean the trinity. Ya, it's one of those things that Christians use a special exception to explain it. If it makes you feel any better, the concept of the trinity was not universal in the first couple of centuries of Christianity. Even reading the four canonical gospels portray Jesus differently, whether or not he was divine or had been since birth.
